Three U.S. companies must stop routing scam coronavirus-related robocalls or get kicked off the nation’s phone system, federal regulators said.
RSCom, based in Knoxville, Tenn. and Aurora, Canada, allegedly routed scam calls from the U.K. offering fake coronavirus refunds, according to the Federal Communications Commission and the Federal Trade Commission.
PTGi Carrier Services, based in Washington, is accused of enabling calls claiming that Social Security numbers were suspended, the regulators said. San Mateo, Calif.-based IntelePeer allegedly offered phony loans with 0% interest rates.
