National Telecommunications and Information Administration administrator David Redl has resigned, a Commerce Department spokesman said.
Redl had headed the Commerce Department agency that manages federal spectrum use since November 2017. He departed as the NTIA works to develop a national spectrum strategy aimed at promoting next-generation wireless services, space commerce, and emerging technologies.
Redl submitted his resignation May 9, a department spokeswoman said. Diane Rinaldo will fill his role as Acting Assistant Secretary and NTIA Administrator, the spokeswoman said. Rinaldo has served as Deputy Assistant Secretary for Communications and Information since April 2018.
