Comcast Rebuffed by Supreme Court in Xperi Patent Fight

The U.S. Supreme Court denied Comcast’s request to review a patent-infringement case it lost that’s part of four-year royalty battle with Xperi’s TiVo.

  • The U.S. International Trade Commission had found that Comcast infringed TiVo patents for a way to remotely program the TV via smartphone and issued an import ban on television set-top boxes used in Comcast’s system
    • The patents in this case have expired, but Comcast is trying to void the appeals court ruling on the ITC’s authority to impose the ban because it could affect two other cases TiVo has against it at the agency
