Comcast, Charter Joining Forces to Better Compete in Wireless

Comcast Corp. and Charter Communications Inc., the two largest U.S. cable operators, have agreed to explore ways to work together in the wireless business and better compete nationwide with mobile giants like AT&T Inc. and Verizon Communications Inc.

Both cable companies have agreements with Verizon that allow them to re-sell wireless service on Verizon’s cellular network in their respective territories. Now, they want to use their combined size to negotiate better contracts for reselling wireless data and phones and take advantage of emerging wireless technologies like 5G.
