Clock Ticks on TikTok’s Data Protection Policy in Colombia (1)

Colombia’s data protection agency is giving China’s ByteDance Ltd. 10 days to improve TikTok’s data protection standards or risk fines.

The data protection agency, a branch of the Colombian industry and trade regulator, announced Thursday in a ruling that it was giving TikTok a deadline to bring its data protection up to national standards before taking punitive action.

The action includes potentially imposing fines of up to $460,000 for failure to comply. Fines can be levied multiple times.
