Chunghwa Telecom Builds Subsea Cable With Japan, Korea Cos (1)

Taiwan’s biggest telecom company Chunghwa Telecom Co. invests at least NT$4.6b ($139m) in construction of a new undersea cable, according to a filing.

  • The 12,500km-long transpacific cable is jointly built by network service providers including Verizon Business Global, SoftBank, and SK Broadband
  • Alcatel Submarine Networks is the supplier of the E2A subsea cable
  • The purpose is to increase international transmission bandwidth and a diversified cable route
  • Service of the cable is expected to be launched from 2H 2028
