CenturyLink Works to Get Ahead of Google, Comcast Gigabit in the Great Basin

Adding up all the numbers shared by CenturyLink in an interview with Fierce Telecom indicates that the company is looking to have built fiber passings to about 500,000 homes in the Salt Lake City metro area by the end of this year. The news doesn’t mean that all of Salt Lake City will soon see ultra-fast speeds, however.

Salt Lake City has a population of approximately 1.2 million, with about 2.4 million residents in the Salt Lake City-Ogden-Provo (SOO) Combined Statistical Area metroplex.
