Capital One ‘Hijacks’ Content Creator Affiliate Links, Suit Says

Capital One Financial Corp. was hit with a proposed class action alleging it poaches affiliate marketing commissions from influencers through its shopper browser extension.

The Capital One shopping tool allegedly swaps out cookies used to credit a sale to content creators with its own, causing Capital One to gain commission on a sale even if a consumer clicked an influencer’s affiliate link to purchase a product, according to a complaint filed Tuesday in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia.
