Canon Knocks Out Cellspin Web-Publishing Patent as Obvious

A Cellspin Soft Inc. media distribution technology patent is invalidated as obvious in light of prior inventions, the Patent Trial and Appeal Board found.

The finding came in a challenge by Canon U.S.A. Inc. over Cellspin’s U.S. Patent No. 9,258,698. The patent involves a system using an image-capturing device, like a camera, with a Bluetooth mobile device to automatically publish content across one or more websites simultaneously.

GoPro Inc and Garmin International Inc. joined Canon in the challenge before the Patent and Trademark Office tribunal.
