Cablevision Ends OMGfast Fixed Wireless Broadband Experiment

Cablevision Systems is ending its experiment with fixed wireless broadband and voice services in Florida. The company said Tuesday that the OMGfast service will be discontinued on or after Aug. 19, in Florida cities including Boca Raton, Ft. Lauderdale, Margate and nine others.

The Cablevision unit sold a 50 Mbps Internet connection that competed with services from Comcast, Time Warner Cable, AT&T and other broadband ISPs for $29.95 per month. For an additional $14.95 monthly, subscribers could add a telephone service offering unlimited local and national calls.
