Time Warner Cable is the first major U.S. service provider to enable relatively new Passpoint, or Hotspot 2.0, capabilities on its out-of-home Wi-Fi networks. TWC’s deployment will allow qualifying data subs to authenticate Passpoint compatible mobile devices once and then automatically discover and sign onto any other TWC hotspot without having to re-enter login information.
In areas with dense Wi-Fi network deployments, Passpoint-enabled hotspots will allow TWC data subs a degree of mobility, handing off an authenticated device from one hotspot access point to the next without a noticeable interruption in service.
