Broadband, Supply Chain Funds Get Bump in Democrats’ Budget Bill

A House panel is proposing to boost school broadband benefits, increase supply chain security and create a new privacy bureau as part of President Joe Biden’s $3.5 trillion economic agenda, according to an outline of the measure.

The House Energy and Commerce Committee plans to mark up its portion of the $3.5 trillion, 10-year reconciliation bill (S. Con. Res. 14) on Monday as panels work to finish drafting the legislation by Sept. 15. Democrats are working to use the budget reconciliation process to pass the spending measure without Republican support in the Senate.
