Brazil published rules Thursday creating its first consumer privacy overseer, the National Data Protection Authority, as the nation moved closer to implementing its information-safeguard law.
The authority’s first task will be putting in place bylaws to enforce the data protection law. It will also be in charge of designing the National Plan for Data Protection, working with other government regulatory bodies to eliminate conflicts, and ensuring that reporting structures are put in place.
