Intellectual property owners worried about enforcing their rights want more clarity in the system for collecting domain name contact data to ensure they’ll be able to access the information.
The International Trademark Association, a global association of brand owners, and the Intellectual Property Constituency, whose members include the Motion Picture Association of America and the American Intellectual Property Law Association, want IP enforcement, law enforcement, and cybersecurity specified as legitimate reasons for processing data, pursuant to the European Union’s data privacy rules.
