Biden Cyber Plan Leaves Key Agency Underfunded, Lawmakers Say

Cybersecurity emerged as an area of bipartisan concern Thursday as Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas defended the agency’s proposed budget before House lawmakers.

Several Democrats on the Committee on Homeland Security pressed Mayorkas on the government’s response to a series of cyberattacks that hobbled critical infrastructure in recent months, and on how the Department of Homeland Security is working to prevent future disruptions.

Republicans, meanwhile, slammed the White House for requesting too little funding for the DHS’s Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, which coordinates federal cybersecurity efforts.
