OTTAWA—Bell Canada has agreed to pay a C$1.3 million ($1.2 million) administrative penalty to settle a regulatory enforcement action that alleged the telecom company violated Canada’s telemarketing no-call law, according to a Dec. 20 Notice of Violation.
In addition, Bell Canada voluntarily made a C$266,000 ($261,744) contribution to a university research program in response to concerns raised by the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) over its use of automatic calling systems that did not result in a notice of violation.
