Apple VP Must Testify in Biometric Privacy Suit Over Photos App

Apple Inc. must produce a senior executive for deposition testimony in a biometric privacy lawsuit over information collected by the tech giant through the Photos app on its mobile devices and desktop and laptop computers.

Apple failed to show that the plaintiffs could get the information they were seeking by other means, or that requiring the testimony of Craig Federighi, senior vice president of software engineering, would impose undue hardship in light of his duties as a senior executive, Judge Nancy J. Rosenstengel of the US District Court for the Southern District of Illinois said March 8.
