Apple Power Adapter Settlement, Fees Will Get a Closer Look on Remand

A class settlement that would resolve claims alleging that some power adapters used for Apple’s MacBook computers fray and can cause sparks and fire will get another look after the Ninth Circuit decided in an unpublished opinion April 24 that the district court didn’t sufficiently support its approval of the deal and a $3 million attorneys’ fees award (In re Magsafe Apple Power Adapter Litig., 2014 BL 115293, 9th Cir., No. 5:09-cv-01911).
