Apple Challenge to Uniloc Patent Knocked Out at Patent Office

Apple Inc. fell short in showing claims in a Uniloc USA patent for a method of delivering advertisements and other information to user devices were unpatentable, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office said Wednesday.

The Patent Trial and Appeal Board decision upholds the validity of Patent No. 9,414,199. Uniloc is currently suing Apple in the U.S. District Court of the Northern District of California for infringing the ‘199 patent. The lawsuit was transferred to the California’s Northern District, where Apple is incorporated, from the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas.
