Apple $310 Million iPhone Battery Deal Gets Judge’s Nod Again

Apple Inc. and some consumers again received approval for a $310 million class settlement in litigation over iPhone performance, after a federal district judge took a second look at the deal as ordered by the Ninth Circuit.

After reviewing the deal under the “heightened scrutiny” standard directed by the appeals court, Judge Edward J. Davila of the US District Court for the Northern District of California still found final approval was warranted.

Consumers filed dozens of proposed class suits alleging Apple deliberately slowed certain older phones and reduced battery life through software updates.
