Amazon Photos Biometric Privacy Lawsuit Removed to Federal Court

A proposed biometric privacy class action against Amazon.com Inc. belongs in federal court, not state court, the e-commerce giant is arguing.

The lawsuit meets the grounds for removal under the Class Action Fairness Act, Amazon argued in its notice of removal filed Tuesday in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington.

Attorneys representing plaintiff Angela Hogan didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.

Hogan sued Amazon in state court last month, arguing that the e-commerce company violated the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act by collecting people’s data without consent and by failing to establish a public ...
