Amazon Accuses More Companies of Alexa Tech Support Scams

Amazon has accused three more companies of exploiting its brand to to perpetrate a widespread tech support fraud against users of its Alexa devices, according to a federal lawsuit filed Thursday in California.

California-based Sleja Inc. and Alexa Web Services Inc. and Indian company Expert Tech Rogers Pvt. Ltd. have no affiliation to Amazon, according to the tech giant’s complaint at the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California. But they created websites and social media profiles offering to help Amazon’s customers set up their Alexa devices and using Amazon’s trademarks, the company says.
