Recentive Analytics Inc., which sued Fox Corp. for copying its machine-learning patents as the network scheduled NFL games, sought a second hearing at the Federal Circuit after an appeals panel invalidated its patents as abstract.
The patent owner Wednesday petitioned to have the full US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit hear the case, saying the panel’s opinion diverged from US Supreme Court and circuit precedent in foreclosing “new machine learning applications” from being eligible for patent protection.
