A federal judge in San Francisco said he’ll likely dismiss a wide-ranging copyright lawsuit brought by a group of artists who claim their work is used to train artificial intelligence art programs without permission or compensation.
But the artists will have an opportunity to refile the suit with more specific allegations against Stability AI Ltd., Midjourney Inc., and DeviantArt Inc., said Judge William H. Orrick at a Wednesday hearing in the US District Court for the Northern District of California.
