Accellion Faces Series of Lawsuits Over Software Cyberattack

Accellion Inc. must separately face a series of lawsuits over a cyberattack that impacted the software provider’s clients after a federal judicial panel rejected consolidation.

The cases concern a recent breach of Accellion’s file-transfer software that impacted a number of its clients, including The Kroger Co. and Flagstar Bancorp Inc. Claims were brought on behalf of the clients’ customers and employees whose personal information was compromised.

There are 14 lawsuits against Accellion pending in three district courts, as well as another 12 related lawsuits in five districts.
