WM’s $30 Million Investor Class Settlement Gets First Court Nod

Waste Management Inc.'s $30 million settlement inched closer to resolving shareholder claims tied to the garbage collection company’s 2020 purchase of Advanced Disposal Services Inc.

Judge Lorna G. Schofield preliminarily approved the agreement in the US District Court for the Southern District of New York Tuesday. The settlement between WM, three top executives, and investors who got senior notes to fund the acquisition would end the suit claiming the company misrepresented the deal’s timeline before announcing in June 2020 it was missing a completion deadline.
