State Where George Floyd Died Gives Up On Policing Legislation

Minnesota state lawmakers adjourned for the year Saturday without sending a ban on chokeholds or any other policing legislation to the governor.

Though the state House, which is controlled by Democrats, and the Republican-controlled Senate initially moved fast to respond to the death in Minneapolis police custody of George Floyd, an overnight negotiating session failed to produce a bipartisan agreement on how much a new policing law should include.
