Starbucks Lobs New Trademark Suit Against Union Amid Labor Fight

Starbucks Corp. is suing the union representing a portion of its retail workers for infringement of the coffee giant’s iconic logos, the latest in a series of legal challenges over baristas’ push for collective bargaining across the country.

Starbucks Workers United and a local chapter in Iowa City, Iowa, have caused consumer confusion and diluted the value of Starbucks’ brand by using the company’s name and variations of its siren logo on social media, according to the complaint filed Thursday in the US District Court for the Southern District of Iowa.
