Soldier Field Failed to Stop Fans’ Anti-Gay Chants, Suit Says

The operators of Chicago’s Soldier Field knew in advance that fans of the Mexico national soccer team would chant anti-gay slurs at the 2019 international soccer final in violation of the city’s Human Rights Act but did nothing to stop it, according to an amended complaint filed in the Northern District of Illinois.

The plaintiffs allege that fans of the Mexican team, during the 2019 CONCACAF Gold Cup Final on July 7, 2019, repeatedly chanted “a homophobic slur, '¡eeeh puto!,’ which is a vulgar term for a male sex worker.”
