A North Carolina school board faces a lawsuit alleging a high school student was wrongly investigated for vandalism after displaying a message in tribute to slain conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
The student, referred to in court papers as G.S., claims Charlotte-Mecklenburg Board of Education violated her constitutional rights to free speech and free exercise of religion under the First Amendment by censoring and retaliating against her speech, among other alleged violations of the Fourth, Fifth and Fourteenth Amendments.
