Police Unions Bristle at N.Y. Suit Over Handling of BLM Protests

Police unions warned a lawsuit from New York Attorney General Letitia James against the New York Police Department over the treatment of Black Lives Matter protesters sets a troubling precedent, unfairly blaming law enforcement officers for violence and making it harder for them to safely manage mass demonstrations.

“It seems like the move is to point the finger at the cops on the street, without solving the leadership problems that put the police in this situation,” said a spokesman for the New York City Police Benevolent Association (PBA).
