Mike Pence Group Backs Circuit Pick Who Drew Conservative Ire

A conservative organization founded by former Vice President Mike Pence is throwing its support behind President Donald Trump’s appeals court nominee who’s attracted rare conservative pushback.

Advancing American Freedom sent a memo to GOP senators that urges them support Rebecca Taibleson’s nomination to the US Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit and addresses allegations from some conservative leaders that the Wisconsin prosecutor is a “secret liberal.”

“The attacks launched against her are factually false,” the group says in the memo that dispels purported “myths” about Taibleson. “Conservatives should enthusiastically support Taibleson’s nomination.”
