Federal prosecutors announced an arrest and criminal charges against two Los Angeles businessmen who face fraud allegations related to misuse of public homelessness funds.
Law enforcement is seeking to crackdown on misuse of funds meant to address the Golden State’s deepening homelessness crisis. Their announcement Thursday came shortly after an LA federal judge appointed a mediator to monitor the city’s spending, following revelations in court that local authorities couldn’t verify large chunks of data related to the programs.
