Kentucky Football Players Allege Police Framed Them for Burglary

A Lexington, Ky., police officer and his supervisors violated the civil rights of five Black current and former University of Kentucky football players by falsely charging them with burglary after some of them attended a fraternity party where they were assaulted, the players say.

The plaintiffs—R.J. Adams, JuTahn McClain, Andru Phillips, Vito Tisdale, and Joel Williams—allege Lexington Police Detective Cory Vinlove “embarked on a journey to frame” them in an effort “to further his own career and embarrass the University of Kentucky football program,” according to the complaints filed Wednesday in the US District Court for the Eastern District of ...
