Houston Bar Prevails Over Black Lawyer’s Baseball Cap Bias Suit

A Houston hotel restaurant and bar defeated the bias claim of a Black patron who alleged that workers demanded he take his cap off while intentionally ignoring White customers who wore cowboy hats.

Plaintiff Willie Powells, a lawyer, cited no “direct record evidence” supporting the claim that the staff of the “five-star” Post Oak Hotel and its H Bar restaurant enforced a no-baseball-cap policy against Powells because he was Black, said Judge Lee H.
