Google Again Beats YouTube Users’ Discrimination Claims, for Now

Google LLC shook off for the third time class action claims that its video platform YouTube discriminates against Black and minority content creators by restricting views and monetization of certain videos based on race.

The plaintiffs allege that YouTube’s algorithm violates its guidelines by considering the plaintiffs’ individual characteristics when deciding whether to remove, restrict, or monetize content.

But the complaint doesn’t identify the characteristics the algorithm wrongfully considered when making those decisions, or sufficiently allege the plaintiffs have been treated differently based on those characteristics, Judge Vince Chhabria of the US District Court for the Northern District of California ...
