Drone, Crash Sensor Projects Win Federal Funds Under New Program

The Biden administration is awarding millions of dollars to advance new transportation technology projects such as drone inspections and crash sensors, as it seeks safer and more sustainable transportation.

The Transportation Department said Tuesday it is awarding more than $94 million in grants to 59 projects as the first recipients of a competitive program created by the 2021 infrastructure law (Public Law 117-58). The program aims to dole out $500 million over five years in total, and previews how the department plans to use the technology to support broader goals.
