Bank of America Fails to Dodge Housing Maintenance Bias Suit

Bank of America NA and its property management vendor failed in their bid to escape a lawsuit alleging discrimination in the maintenance of homes the bank owned in Black and Latino-majority neighborhoods.

The National Fair Housing Alliance and other fair housing advocate plaintiffs had generated “a genuine issue of material fact” about Bank of America and Safeguard Properties Management LLC’s conduct that needs to be decided through a trial, Judge Stephanie Gallagher of the US District Court for the District of Maryland wrote in a March 24 denial of the defendants’ motion for summary judgment.
