The Lawrence, Kan., public library didn’t violate the First Amendment rights of a protester who was removed for displaying signs criticizing transgender people, a federal court said.
The library policies used to prevent Justin Spiehs from displaying his signs were content-neutral restrictions on speech that were narrowly tailored to serve the government’s interest in maintaining decorum in the library, Judge Julie A. Robinson said Thursday for the US District Court for the District of Kansas.
