A senior engine manager at Volkswagen AG’s Porsche unit was arrested recently as part of a long-running probe into allegations that VW cheated on diesel-emissions tests, according to a person familiar with the probe.
Joerg Kerner, head of engine development at Porsche, was taken into custody as part of the case in which Stuttgart prosecutors are investigating three officials at the unit, said the person, who asked not to be identified because the details are confidential. One of the suspects is unit management board member Michael Steiner, the person said.
