Veon’s $20 Million Investor Settlement Gets Final Court Approval

Veon Ltd. received a court’s final sign-off on its nearly $20 million class settlement to resolve investors’ claims that the telecommunications company concealed an Uzbek bribery scheme and overstated its financial controls.

The deal is fair, reasonable, and adequate, Judge Andrew L. Carter Jr. said Tuesday for the US District Court for the Southern District of New York. Carter also approved fees amounting to one-third of the settlement fund—or about $6.7 million—to pay the investors’ lawyers for their work in the decade-long litigation.
