A federal judge in Washington should force the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau to request additional funding from the Federal Reserve to meet the terms of her order pausing the Trump administration’s moves to dismantle the agency, plaintiffs including the National Treasury Employees Union said.
In a motion filed Sunday, the NTEU—representing most CFPB employees—and its co-plaintiffs asked Judge Amy Berman Jackson in the US District Court for the District of Columbia to explicitly rule that any failure to request more money from the Fed violates her March prohibition on shutting down the agency.
