Trump Taps SEC Lawyer for Federal Judgeship in Illinois

A Chicago-based SEC lawyer soon might be working on cases as a federal judge in Illinois.

President Donald Trump intends to nominate Steven Seeger, senior trial counsel for the Securities and Exchange Commission, for a seat on the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, the White House said June 7.

The lawyer joined the agency in 2010. Seeger’s work in the SEC’s Chicago Regional Office has included litigation involving investment firm fraud, insider trading, and other wrongdoing, according to the commission.
