Trump SEC Axes Democrats’ Plan to Ease Shareholder Proposals (1)

The Republican-led SEC has formally abandoned a Biden-era initiative to relax requirements for shareholders offering proposals at companies’ annual meetings.

The Securities and Exchange Commission withdrew the 2022 shareholder plan on Thursday, along with several other SEC proposals issued under former Democratic Chair Gary Gensler, according to an agency filing. Democrats would have to reissue the proposals if they retake the SEC and seek to revive them, stymieing any future effort to fast-track final regulations based on the plans.
