Treasury Queries Wall Street About QT Views as Outlooks Shift

The US Treasury Department is seeking feedback from Wall Street about expectations for the Federal Reserve’s ongoing balance-sheet unwind as strategists start to push back outlooks for ending the runoff.

In its survey released Friday, Treasury asked primary dealers for their views on the potential changes to the central bank’s balance sheet. That includes when they see quantitative tightening concluding, when the Fed will have to resume buying government debt to maintain ample reserves, as well as concerns about how money markets will respond.
