Skillz Mobile-Game Company Notches Early Win in Investor Suit

A California district court dismissed an investor lawsuit against Skillz Inc. alleging the mobile game platform made misleading statements about its financial condition.

The lawsuit said Skillz failed to inform investors about declining downloads of some of its top games. The suit also claimed Skillz hadn’t developed the ability to host synchronous games, despite promoting the format as a growth source, among other things.

The investors haven’t adequately shown that Skillz made false statements or that investors were misled, Judge Richard Seeborg of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California said in a Tuesday order. But ...
