SEC’s New York Office Gets New Leader From Atlanta

The SEC’s top official in Atlanta has been tapped to lead the agency’s largest regional office in New York.

Richard Best will oversee about 400 staffers who handle Securities and Exchange Commission enforcement and examination matters in New York and New Jersey, the agency said Wednesday. The New York Regional Office supervises more than 4,000 financial institutions, which is more than any of the SEC’s 10 other regional offices.

Best will replace Marc Berger, who was named the deputy director of the SEC’s Enforcement Division, the agency said. Berger now will help oversee the commission’s enforcement activity across the country ...
