The SEC got a reprieve to pursue a review of its controversial market surveillance system after a federal judge in Texas granted the agency’s bid to put a legal challenge on hold.

Privacy and cost issues raised by a think tank and investor plaintiffs could become moot after the potential changes the SEC is considering for its Consolidated Audit Trail, the agency argued in its request to stay the legal proceedings.
