The SEC asked a federal judge to pause a legal fight over its contentious market surveillance tool, pending the agency’s review of potential changes to the system under Chairman Paul Atkins.

The Securities and Exchange Commission’s review may resolve some issues that plaintiffs raised in a case alleging the Consolidated Audit Trail system violates investors’ privacy, the agency said Wednesday in the US District Court for the Western District of Texas requesting a stay of the proceedings.
