The Senate Banking Committee advanced SEC nominees Jaime Lizarraga and Mark Uyeda, moving the agency closer to a full slate of commissioners as it pursues its ESG agenda and other priorities.
The panel advanced the nominations to the full Senate for consideration by voice vote Wednesday. President Joe Biden tapped them for the Securities and Exchange Commission in April.
Lizarraga would replace Democratic Commissioner Allison Lee, whose term expired June 5, but is staying until the Senate confirms her successor. Lizarraga is a senior adviser to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) His term would end in 2027.
